Freda Fung oversees program operations in East Asia, which encompasses China mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, Chinese Taipei, Korea, and Mongolia, providing strategic direction and engagement with the public and private sector to raise awareness and gain support. She also leads fundraising efforts for the region.
Fung has volunteered with Special Olympics since the early 2000s and aims to build upon its successful legacy by continuously serving Special Olympics athletes and programs in East Asia. She brings 35 years of marketing experience spanning the computer industry, consumer product licensing, and business and cultural marketing. She moved to Shanghai in 1994, where she held leadership positions at Triangle Group, the Walt Disney Company (China), Coca-Cola China, and Zera Communications. Fung worked with Zera during the 2007 Special Olympics World Games in Shanghai providing services for Global Sponsor Management, Torch Relay Events, and the Founder’s Reception Event.
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Fung grew up in Hong Kong and Taiwan and received her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Indiana University Bloomington.
